Friday Faves 4/30

Friday, April 30th, 2010 by admin

This week’s favorites are inspired by my upcoming trip to the Bahamas. I leave Sunday, but first, off to a wedding in VA. In lieu of my week long absence, I am employing a guest blogger, my dear friend, and also the Founder/Editor in Chief of Wedded Away. While I will miss the blogosphere, you are in good hands. Have a great weekend!

What Kind of Bride Are You? The Beach Bound

Thursday, April 29th, 2010 by admin

For a destination based website, it’s only obvious we highlight the beach bound bride. She loves that a destination wedding  allows her to have a more intimate affair with the people who matter most to her.  Her wedding venue is the perfect opportunity to play with bright color schemes like pink & orange, turquoise & yellow, or turquoise and red. If she typically shys away from bold color she can use softer colors with subtle pops of color. Her dress is relaxed  and moves with ease. Designers Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, J.Crew, Nicole Miller, Temperley London and Rosa Clara make picking just one dress a challenge. This wedding is sure to leave everyone feeling refreshed and, most importantly, tan!

What Kind of Bride Are You? The Modern

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 by admin

The Modern bride is anything but predictable. She opts for unconventional yet fresh and fashion forward elements. Her dress maybe classic in shape but has an edge to it like metallic, peplums, or generally any trendy detailing. This is the girl who is most likely to wear one of the colored wedding dresses that are popping up across the bridal circuit. Dress designers who get her mod vibe are Lanvin, Jenny Packham, St. Pucchi, Priscilla of Boston, Michelle Roth, and Jenny Lee. This modern girl is sure to shake up the wedding stereotype.

What Kind of Bride Are You? The Romantic

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 by admin

As a Romantic bride, chances are you have had this day planned out and played in your head for some time. Generally speaking, the romantic girl epitomizes the cinderella wedding story. Her dress is whimsical, girly, anything pretty with soft accents like ruffles, lace, cinderella skirt, and sparkly embellishments. Dress designers sure to make her smile, Christos, Elizabeth Fillmore, Romona Keveza, Rivini, Reem Acra, Elie Saab, and Marchesa. This girl is sure to find her prince and have a fairy tale wedding.

What Kind of Bride Are You? The Classic

Monday, April 26th, 2010 by admin

The classic bride is elegant, tasteful and timeless.  She emulates style icons like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy, who happen to be, some of the best known faces for timeless beauty and poise. Her dress is simple yet refined with details that create an overall classic look. Collections by Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Priscilla of Boston, Anne Barge and Amsale melt her heart every time. Her decorations are breathtaking, but do not leave you feeling like anything was forced or overdone. Overall, this gal really gets the meaning of simple elegance.

There is nothing worse than having the picture perfect dress (or bridesmaid dress) in you mind, and either 1)Not able to find anything close to it, or 2) Finding it and having it be completely out of your budget. If this is happening to you, check out www.olivialuca.com and design your own! The site takes you through 7 easy steps, you pick the bodice, skirt, trim (if you please), fabric and color. Non fabric aficionados fear not, there are pictures for your reference. After you are done designing you will see the price of your masterpiece and allow you to save it in your “private dressing room,” just in case some new inspiration comes your way.

Presto Change-O

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 by admin

This blog has been a long time coming. A while ago (sometime in the last year) I stumbled across an ad for Martina Liana, which highlighted their “2-in-1” dress, and I thought to myself, what a great idea! The skirt and bolero are removable- all of the pieces are sold separately -and come in various colors. Perfect for the  bride who wants a traditional dress for the ceremony, but doesn’t want to be bothered with bustles and trains while busting a move on the dance floor. Plus come reception time everyone will get to see your cute shoes.
