{Featured Designer} Elizabeth Fillmore

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 by admin

The first wedding dress I ever tried on was by Elizabeth Fillmore. I was working in NY for Saks at the time- doing corporate events & PR- and a co-worker of mine insisted we check out her trunk show at the store. It was so easy to fall in love with her self described “modern romantic,”  dresses, and some have more of a bohemian kick than others. Ultimately, I decided on another dress when we figured where we were going to be married, but I still enjoy looking through her collections because I know I can count on finding truly unique and elegant dresses.

2010 Emmy’s Fashion

Monday, August 30th, 2010 by admin

Fashioning Weddings will be back next week, promise. Since the Emmy’s were last night I thought I would do a little fashion recap on them. I have to say overall I was pretty underwhelmed by the dresses I saw. These happened to be my favorites, and I did really like all the sequin moments as there were quite a few. I only included one sequined dress here, but pretty much everyone who had a sequin dress looked fab. Which makes me wonder if we will start to see more sequined dresses popping up in bridal soon.

Who didn’t look good? Two words, Rita Wilson. I mean what happened here? Her dress reminds me of the hardware store challenge on Project Runway, and if it had any chance of looking ok to good, the shoes murder the outfit. It’s just so bad.

Then there was this number by January Jones. I think without the Madonna-esq chest covers, it may, may have stood a chance. The color is lovely and it’s a great color for her, but I can’t help thinking of a peacock.

Elie Tahari Knows Coats…Especially If You Like Ruffles

Sunday, August 29th, 2010 by admin

I found them! I mentioned in last Friday’s post that Elie Tahari has some really cute coats, but I couldn’t find my favorites online. Well, all it took was a weekend. They are a great way to show up to a rehearsal dinner or shower during the cooler months, and best part is you can wear it again and again. I have to say, this camel leather “dress” as it is called, can so be worn as a very cool trench.

{Friday Faves} Jackets

Friday, August 27th, 2010 by admin

Ahh, another weekend, an another wedding for me. What is everyone up to? Can you believe we are rolling into September this week?!

I’m a sucker for a lot of things, and jackets are most definitely one of them. So far, these are my lust worthy coats of the season (side note Elie Tahari also has amazing jackets this year, I just couldn’t find the ones I wanted to share online).

Vince and their leather. This year and last they really stepped up their game, and Vince’s leather and shearling is so not your typical shearling jacket of yester-year. The raspberry Eileen Fisher (I know!) is so cute and cozy and would looking stunning back to grey. It does come in a couple of other colors too. Red Valentino always makes great tailored girly clothes, and this toggle jacket is a perfect example of that, adorable. Lastly, the reversible Akris swing coat. I have slipped this puppy on and it is glorious. I can’t even try to justify the outrageous price tag(you could by all three of the other jackets and have money to spare), but I had to include it because it really is that pretty. Here’s to staying warm and looking fresh and fashionable this fall.

Color Theme of The Week- Purple & Red

Thursday, August 26th, 2010 by admin

As promised, here is a good transitional/ fall color theme. I really haven’t seen much of these colors together but I was flipping through the current issue of Brides (post inspiration board making) and they happened to highlight it, so maybe it will start popping up more.

A Sleeved Affair

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 by admin

This Spring 2011 Monique Lhuillier dress inspired today’s post. I must look at hundreds of wedding dresses on a regular basis, and some run together, but there are some I can not forget, and I am currently having a small love affair with this one.

I never thought I would be a sleeve girl (I wore strapless), but recently I have been seeing more and more dresses with sleeves (short, cap, 3/4 etc) that are more feminine, modern and  oh so memorable.

All of these dresses are Marchesa, but believe it or not, none of them are actually part of her bridal collection!

{Friday Faves} Wedding Photos

Friday, August 20th, 2010 by admin

Here’s to another Friday. They seem to roll around faster and faster these days, don’t they? My faves are some amazing wedding shots I saw on the blogosphere this week from Style Me Pretty, Brides.com, Green Wedding Shoes, and Perfect Bound. By the way the center top photo is actually model Coco Rocha in her custom designed Zac Posen wedding dress. Ah, the life of a supermodel.  Enjoy!

Color Theme of The Week – Pink & Green

Thursday, August 19th, 2010 by admin

When I think of pink and green together I immediatley think of Lily Pulitzer, which, depending on who you are, could be a good or not so good thing. But, when I came across wine popsicles, my heart melted a little, and I can not lie, I was inspired to build a color story around a popsicle. They do say everything tastes bettter on a stick right?
