A Gift for the Fashionista Girl

Monday, November 29th, 2010 by admin

Coffee table books make great gifts for those really hard to shop for people. The best part is they are generally under $100 and easy to find. Here is the perfect example, consider giving your favorite fashionista friend or relative Masters of Fashion Illustration by David Downton. Theses are just a sampling of his sketches, plus, with today being Cyber Monday and all, you are sure to find a deal.

Color Theme of the Week – Giving Thanks

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 by admin

This week’s color theme is inspired by this great day of eating till you just can’t eat anymore. Yes, Thanksgiving, and here is an inspiration board to celebrate the holiday of being thankful without being too cliche.

Holiday Windows City Style

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 by admin

I spent the better part of last week traipsing around Manhattan, and enjoying every minute. I especially love being in the city (where I met my husband) during this time of year with most of the holiday decorations up. I missed the unveiling of the famed Saks holiday windows, but here are some that I did get to see.

Barney’s wants us to have a foodie holiday season. The scene and dress in the second picture is made entirely of coffee cans.

Bendel’s Nutcracker inspired windows are sure to leave little girls asking for ballet lessons.

{Featured Designer} Victoria Nicole

You may not have heard of her, but Victoria Nicole has been designing dresses for more than 20 years. Her foray into bridal began after applying for an undisclosed “design assistant” job in WWD. Well, she got the job and found herself at Christos where she stayed before starting her own line in April 2010. Here are some of my favorite looks from her Fall 2011 Collection.

Brook&lyn’s Jewelry

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 by admin

It is fitting that I am writing this post from New York’s East Side with a view of Brooklyn across the way. Brook&lyn’s agate and rope jewelry has rocked my world. I especially like the raw stones they use in some of their pendants. It’s the perfect accessory to give any look a little added pop.

The great thing about the Jim Hjelm collection is that there is a wide variety of dresses to choose from. Currently, I am having a love affair with these ball gowns. He also has some great jersey bridesmaid dresses, perfect for packing, for those far away weddings.

Emma Watson’s cute feather and vintage lace Rafael Lopez for Atelier Mayer made me fall for feathers.

Color Theme of the Week – Red & Pink

Thursday, November 11th, 2010 by admin

I’ve kind of got pink on the brain. This is something I thought I would NEVER (ever, ever) say, but it seems preparing for a baby girl has already changed me. So this week it’s pink and red.

{Featured Designer} Sarantina by Sarah Jassir

I’m very excited to present today’s designer Sarah Jassir. She is known for her mix of architectural and feminine details, and I really haven’t seen anything else like it. I picture a fabulous soiree at an Art Museum or great loft overlooking a city lit up at night. Of course, she has her version of a non-white wedding dress too.
