Belize Marriage Requirements

Belize Marriage License:

• Bride and Groom must spend three days in Belize prior to applying for a marriage license.
• The marriage license must be signed by the Justice of the Peace and can be picked up one to two days after it has been approved
• Valid passport with date of entry stamp is required
• If either party has been divorced, the original final decree or a certified copy must be produced.
• If either party is widowed, the original death certificate or certified copy must be produced.
• Couple must have two witnesses present
• Cost of marriage license: (US) $100

Your hotel or wedding planner should be able to asist you with obtaining your license. However, the registrar's office can be contacted for specific rules regarding planning your destination or beach wedding in Belize. They can also provide information regarding marriage licenses and marriage certificates.
