Delightful Details

A dozen different ways to personalize your wedding ceremony

1. Incorporate sentimental songs. Surely your groom and you have a few songs that carry special meaning, why not use them? Don't worry if the songs are a little quirky, that only adds to their charm.

2. Bring in a piece of the past. Ask your mom what type of flowers she carried when she walked down the aisle and incorporate those same flowers into your bouquet.

3. Mix old and new. Have vintage lace from your grandmother's veil sewn into your wedding gown.

5. Get creative. Ask loved ones who are not part of the ceremony to read a favorite quote or recite words you and your groom have written about one another.

6. Add-in meaningful objects. Perhaps you've collected seashells from all your travels, fill hurricane vases with them to line the aisle.

7. Tightly knit. If your wedding party is under 20 people consider forgoing seating all together and asking all your guests to simply gather round you and the groom.

8. In your program use photos to tell who each person in the wedding party is rather than just text.

9. Infuse a bit of humor. If you and your groom are known for having a wild sense of humor, use it. Have your officiant swim up and walk out of the water over to where the ceremony is taking place or arrive in a boat.

10. Take it to the sky. Instead of having your guests throw rice or rose petals as you walk down the aisle as husband and wife ask guests to release white balloons into the air that have your hopes and dreams written on them.

11. Remember those who have passed. Use your program to remember grandparents and loved ones who were not able to be with you but who you know are there in spirit.

12. Kick Back. If your groom is more of a tennis than dress shoe type of guy let him infuse his style into the ceremony by wearing a great pair of old school converse or forgo shoes all together.
