Costa Rica Marriage Requirements

Costa Rica Marriage License:

• Valid passport for Bride & Groom
• Two witnesses are required (non-family)
• Marriage requisition email needs to be sent in at least 10 days in advance of ceremony (hotel should be able to help with this request). Request will need to include:

1. Full name
2. Profession/Occupation
3. Current address - (street address, please). This should be your home address.
4. Passport number and nationality - make sure each passport is signed by the bearer.
5. Marital status
6. Date and place of birth - (city, state or province, country).
7. Full name of Father and Mother and current citizenship
8. Mailing address - (no P.O. Box, please)
9. Phone number
10. E-mail address


Registrar's Office

Your hotel or wedding planner should be able to asist you with obtaining your license. However, the registrar's office can be contacted for specific rules regarding planning your destination or beach wedding in Costa Rica. They can also provide information regarding marriage licenses and marriage certificates.
