Wedding Band or DJ? |
|
Choosing the music for your destination wedding reception is a big decision. The question of whether a band or DJ is a better choice is one that thousands of brides have asked and really there is no simple answer. For many couples the easiest way to begin answering this question might be to look at cost. Typically a live band will start somewhere around $1500 while a DJ is more cost effective starting at around $600.
There are also pros to hiring a DJ. The right DJ can engage your guests. He/She will scan the hall and see the makeup of your guests and then will come up with the right music mix. A seasoned DJ will also catch the "pulse" of the audience. If he/she senses that people are melting or fading, they'll know just what kind of music to put on. A good DJ can be a great choice, especially if you are trying to save on cost. A DJ can also be a good solution for some destination wedding locations that don't offer bands who play in the native language of the bride and groom - for instance English or American Music. Whatever your choice the real key is finding someone that will enhance your reception and foster the type of atmosphere you are looking for.

Planning
If cost alone is not a determining factor then you might look at what you as a couple prefer. A live band will always be a solid choice. Offering real life entertainment makes even non dancers scoot on over to the dance floor to take a listen. A good band can also make a wedding feel very personal and uniquely distinct.
