{Friday Faves} The Etsy Taste Test

Friday, December 24th, 2010 by admin

I don’t know about you, but I find Etsy can be wholly overwhelming. Love the site, but sometimes I just want to look at things that appeal to me without having to scroll through page after page. Well, maybe the lovely people at Etsy were feeling the same way because they recently launched their “taste test.” It’s a quick quiz like process (it’s all pictures) that creates pages of products based on the things you like. The first question looks like this, but if you don’t see anything that appeals to you, you can refresh the options and try again. It’s a lovely thing, and a great way to start dropping those Valentine Day hints. Yea I said it, Christmas is almost so done for the year. Enjoy the holiday!

They say you are what you eat, and during the holidays that can get real ugly real quick. A Korean artist has made wearing what you could be eating very stylish. For more insight into the artist and her project, click here.

{Featured Designer} – Bruce Oldfield

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 by admin

If the name Bruce Oldfield is starting to sound familiar to you, there is a good reason for it. First off, he is a London based bridal designer who people are speculating just might design Kate Middleton’s dress. Turns out he is no stranger to designs fit for royalty. Princess Diana was a big fan of his, and Queen Rania of Jordan walked the aisle in one of his dresses too. For him it’s probably just another day and another dress for your everyday princess. We will have to wait until April to find out for sure, but as you can see, his dresses are breath taking.

Wedding Inspiration Board of the Week – Red & White

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 by admin

I love this time of year because the special edition candy cane ice cream is finally back in stores. I’m not a huge fan of peppermint in general, but put it in a vat of wholesome ice cream goodness and I am all about it. So, in the holiday spirit, this week’s inspiration board was inspired by the red and white stripe treat we all know, and love (at least in some form or another).

{Friday Faves} A Paper Affair

Thursday, November 4th, 2010 by admin

My favorite off the beaten track wedding dress EVER. Yes, it’s pink, and yes it’s made of plates. Turns out this couple was celebrating their 1 year anniversary, so the former bride had a local designer make her a dress, and her husband a tie, out of paper! Then they had a little photoshoot. So clever.

Getting What You Want

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 by admin

You’ve dropped hints, tried to be coy and “theoretically” described your ideal engagement ring- hint hint. You may think you and your guy are totally on the same page except that he thinks that cushion cut stone you are pinning for is actually round. Have fun and go to town at Brides.com and design your own ring finger masterpiece. You could “forget” to close it when you are done, or leave your finished product print out in the printer, or go the not so subtle route and change the screensaver on your shared computer. Sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

{Friday Faves} Unique Shower Gifts

Friday, July 23rd, 2010 by admin

I am in love with this great looking recipe box by Rifle Paper Co. I mean most of the mundane cooking gifts get taken care of, but great now you have all these kitchen gadgets, and no idea what to make (ok that’s talking from personal experience)! Still how fun would it be to get a box full of favorite recipes from family and friends?

Make sure to include this recipe for yummy rainbow cupcakes

My other favorite shower idea is for the wine connoisseurs out there, and a great idea for a bridesmaids gift to the bride. Pick out a bottle of wine for each major holiday the couple shares, so New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Anniversary, Cinco de Mayo (maybe sub tequila here), or whatever it may be. Then dress up each bottle to fit the occasion. You can make it as easy as sticking on some ribbons and writing on the bottles yourself, or make your own custom labels here. Then the bride and groom to be will able to share a nice bottle of wine to celebrate their first year of holidays as husband and wife. Bottoms up!

{Friday Faves} Cake Please!

Friday, July 16th, 2010 by admin

I came across these images on flickr and thought they would make a fun Friday Faves. I bring you my favorite Pucci inspired cakes, and cupcakes. May not be the wedding day top pic, but so fun for a luncheon or shower.
