Get Married In Golden Globes Style

Monday, January 17th, 2011 by admin

I never watch awards shows, I just really like to see what everyone is wearing and I feel set. Although, last night, my extremely anemic Tivo led me to do otherwise. It was easy to see the parallels between the red carpet and bridal wear currently out there. Easy if you spend a lot of time looking at wedding dresses, which I do. Here are some of my favorite looks.

Catherine Zeta-Jones (in Monique Lhuilier) looked so stunning and beautiful. She got the entire look right from head to toe, but I knew her dress looked familiar… Same thing happened when I saw Olivia Wilde (in Marchesa). Both wedding dresses are Monique Lhuillier.

I love Kyra Sedgwick’s orange chiffon Pucci dress. Bright bold colors are huge for Spring and she effortlessly rocked it out. Notice the turquoise earrings? Jenny Packham answers the call with this dress.

Theses lovely ladies were red carpet fabulous and wedding style ready. Not loving Sandra Bullocks hair, but the rest is perfection.

A while back I highlighted a trend I was seeing in bridal dresses, sleeves, and not so surprisingly, some sleeved dresses showed up on the red carpet.

Ice and Snow

Monday, January 10th, 2011 by admin

I woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland this morning, and living in the south (Atlanta, GA) this means pretty much no one is going anywhere, unless it is outside to play. I came across some jewelry that reminds me of snow and ice, which I found fitting for today’s post. But first, our backyard, and yes, that hill is the bomb for sledding. Second, our driveway. Mind you we have no pets so not certain what all the tracks are from.

{Friday Faves} The Etsy Taste Test

Friday, December 24th, 2010 by admin

I don’t know about you, but I find Etsy can be wholly overwhelming. Love the site, but sometimes I just want to look at things that appeal to me without having to scroll through page after page. Well, maybe the lovely people at Etsy were feeling the same way because they recently launched their “taste test.” It’s a quick quiz like process (it’s all pictures) that creates pages of products based on the things you like. The first question looks like this, but if you don’t see anything that appeals to you, you can refresh the options and try again. It’s a lovely thing, and a great way to start dropping those Valentine Day hints. Yea I said it, Christmas is almost so done for the year. Enjoy the holiday!

Wearable Food

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010 by admin

They say you are what you eat, and during the holidays that can get real ugly real quick. A Korean artist has made wearing what you could be eating very stylish. For more insight into the artist and her project, click here.

Wedding Ballerinas

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010 by admin

I saw a post on Wiley Valentine today with these gorgeous ballerina inspired images (you can see the full post here). I just happen to have a tentative date with a girlfriend of mine (and our husbands if they are up for tapping into their feminine sides) this weekend to see Black Swan which reminded me of all the tulle I saw on the runways this fall…

Real bridal style. You can go as literal as you want, although the straight up tutu dress is a little too literal for me

Oh Baby It’s Cold Outside

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 by admin

I have to tip my wool hat to winter brides. I mean winter weddings can be gorgeous, but it’s so cold! I am total wuss for cooler temps (currently still wearing my down jacket in my house), and so, I can appreciate the importance of a good cover up.

{Fashioning Weddings} Wrapped Up In Marc by Marc

Monday, December 6th, 2010 by admin

This lovely little Marc by Marc Jacobs beachy scarf inspired today’s post. Coral is so major for spring, and I liked the non-typical pairing of coral back to grey here. It’s a refreshing take on a color that gets a whole lot of wear in the bridal world.

{Friday Faves} Tutus & Tulle

Friday, December 3rd, 2010 by admin

I’ve got my baby girl on the brain. This is a good thing considering we are 9 weeks from d-day and have not ordered any nursery furniture. I was looking around my favorite kiddie sites and came across these adorable tutus, perfect for dressing up (or little flower girls). I can see it now, any given day, or Halloween 2011 perhaps. At least that is one thing we can plan in advance…

Brook&lyn’s Jewelry

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 by admin

It is fitting that I am writing this post from New York’s East Side with a view of Brooklyn across the way. Brook&lyn’s agate and rope jewelry has rocked my world. I especially like the raw stones they use in some of their pendants. It’s the perfect accessory to give any look a little added pop.

This lovely sparkly number by Bill Blass inspired today’s post. I am a big fan of the sequin trend.
