Update Your Look for the New Year

Harper’s Bazaar offers up some easy hair and beauty updates for 2011, that also make for great wedding beauty ideas. My favorite part is that they are not fussy or over powering, and E to the Z. These effortless options are sure to make you the beautiful bride you are destined to be!

{Friday Faves} The Etsy Taste Test

I don’t know about you, but I find Etsy can be wholly overwhelming. Love the site, but sometimes I just want to look at things that appeal to me without having to scroll through page after page. Well, maybe the lovely people at Etsy were feeling the same way because they recently launched their “taste test.” It’s a quick quiz like process (it’s all pictures) that creates pages of products based on the things you like. The first question looks like this, but if you don’t see anything that appeals to you, you can refresh the options and try again. It’s a lovely thing, and a great way to start dropping those Valentine Day hints. Yea I said it, Christmas is almost so done for the year. Enjoy the holiday!

Wearable Food

They say you are what you eat, and during the holidays that can get real ugly real quick. A Korean artist has made wearing what you could be eating very stylish. For more insight into the artist and her project, click here.

{Featured Designer} Douglas Hannant

Douglas Hannant consistently designs pretty clothes and wedding gowns, but you just don’t hear or see much about him. I really like his Fall 2011 fashion forward “Ice Princess” (my choice of words, not theirs) collection. Thoughts on the wedding suit?

Steals and Deals on Glam Necklaces for Your Bridesmaids

Right now is such a great time to think about buying gifts for your bridesmaids. Even if you wedding is next fall, there are so many deals and great pieces to be had. If you happen to be an advance planner, or someone who resolves to be every year, this is one thing you can easily (and inexpensively) knock off your list.

{Friday Faves}

Despite my flu shot this year, I still got sick. I don’t think it’s the flu, but all I want to do today is stay in bed and eat chicken noodle soup. My head does not have the capacity to pick faves for this week, other than being able to breathe regularly without coughing. It really seems like it’s been a while since I have felt this crappy, and after consulting the expired-in-2009 cold meds I found in our bathroom, I guess it has been. Fortunately I do not have too much planned this weekend so I hope to be back on the blogging front by Monday. Have a great weekend!

Wedding Inspiration Board of the Week – Coral Yellow & Taupe

It has been so freakishly cold, and I live in the South ya’ll. I didn’t think I signed up for this when I moved back from NYC. Anywho, I fell in love with this color palette because it’s warm and happy, yet subtle. Most beachy color schemes tend to use brights, which are great too, but this gives another option for someone who likes color, but doesn’t want it to scream.

Wedding Ballerinas

I saw a post on Wiley Valentine today with these gorgeous ballerina inspired images (you can see the full post here). I just happen to have a tentative date with a girlfriend of mine (and our husbands if they are up for tapping into their feminine sides) this weekend to see Black Swan which reminded me of all the tulle I saw on the runways this fall…

Real bridal style. You can go as literal as you want, although the straight up tutu dress is a little too literal for me

{Friday Faves} My Favorite Cookies…To Gift

If you are struggling to find a good gift for say, a hostess, fashionable girlfriend, in-laws, shower host, the list cam go on and on, check out Elenis. I happened to highlight some of their “fashion” cookies below, but they also have the most adorable holiday, wedding, and specialty designs for someone like the pet lover, or sports enthusiast in your life. The packaging is just about as cute as the cookies, and yes, they do taste as good as they look.
