Don’t Let Them Eat Cake

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 by admin

Traditionalist beware, I am about to suggest a replacement for one of the pinnacles of a wedding celebration…the cake. I am with ya, and if I were to get married all over again, I would get the same cake I had. It was a delicious grocery birthday cake- wedding cake with the story of how my husband and I met wrapping the three tiers, but I digress. Over at Martha Stewart Weddings they offer some unique ideas for those of us who never liked cake in the first place.

cake alternatives

Provencal Cakes, Mini Pavlovas (meringues), Croquembouche (a very pretty and delicious import from the French bakery masters. It would totally compliment this Ulla Majia lace dress), Petit Fours, Mini Angel Food Cakes, Tower of Pies (pies are making a big statement in 2011)

{Fashioning Weddings} Contemporary Style

For the first time in a long time, I am really excited about the fashions for fall. Fortunately/ unfortunately I won’t be able to shop like I am used to because, drum roll, I am pregnant and due in February. So while I love this look from Graham & Spencer, my instinct says a cropped jacket and big ole baby belly do not go together, but, it was great inspiration for this week’s post.
